Broadway in Cincinnati and RENT are asking you to help us keep local kids and families warm this winter. During each performance of RENT, we’ll be collecting gloves, hats and scarves in kids’ and adult sizes in designated bins in the Aronoff lobby.
All winter wear collected will go to two local organizations doing incredible work to care for youth and families in need: Lighthouse Youth & Family Services, and Hamilton County Job & Family Services.
Lighthouse Youth & Family Services provides for families in crisis, for homeless youth and young adults, and for youth learning to become self-sufficient. Lighthouse also serves LGBTQ youth with their Safe & Supported program. The winter wear collected will go to shelter residents and youth in their programs.
Hamilton County Job & Family Services administers state, federal and local programs designed to help families and children in need. In Hamilton County alone, there are more than 1,000 kids in foster care on any given day. About 400 kids are waiting for adoptive families. These coats, hats and gloves will help keep them warm this winter.
When you come see RENT at the Aronoff Center Dec 11-23, we hope you’ll consider bringing winter wear items to help local families stay warm this winter!
Will you also accept winter coats? Or can we only donate gloves, hats and scarves?
Hi Jodi – yes! The agencies would be thrilled with coats. We just suggested the smaller items for ease of carrying them to the Aronoff when you come to the show.
Do you want winter jackets also?
Hi Dick – we can take jackets! The smaller items seem to be most convenient when carrying things to the theater, but I know the organizations will welcome coats.
Are gently used items okay, or only accepting new?
I believe gently used are just fine.
