A ‘Beautiful’ Cincinnati connection

Donna Salyers’ Fabulous-Furs is a Newport, KY business that began 30 years ago with the belief in cruelty-free fashion. What started as a small business has grown to an international company making top-quality faux fur pieces that are sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney’s and more.  Salyers’ furs were even named as one of Oprah’s favorite things.

Earlier this year, Northern Kentucky resident Salyers traveled to New York City to celebrate her daughter’s birthday.  She attended a performance of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical at the Sondheim Theater in late January.

Salyers was in for a big surprise.  In Act I, the characters of Carole, Gerry, Barry and Cynthia are headed off for a holiday weekend in Vermont bundled up for the snow.  On stage walked the actress playing Carole wearing Salyers very own Puma Parka by Fabulous-Furs.

“I was dumb-founded!” says Salyers.

When she got home from the trip, Salyers checked the sales records to find that BEAUTIFUL costume designer Rory Powers had indeed ordered several copies of the coat.  Powers confirmed to Salyers that “Caroles” throughout the world were wearing the Puma Parka onstage.
